Inventors/Innovators of the World
OBJECTIVE:
Students will research various inventors/innovators from countries other than the United States and find out what they invented, when it was invented, purpose of the invention, how the invention works, and biographical information about the inventor. Students will also locate facts about the inventor’s native country and culture.
MATERIALS:
- Internet access
- Media Center resources
- PowerPoint
- Data sheets
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Each group will choose an inventor from a foreign country.
- Students will research the inventor/innovator using the Internet and resources from the media center.
The following information about the inventor must be given:
- Create a list of inventors/innovators from another country other than the US.
- List facts about the inventor’s culture.
- List facts about country of innovator/inventor.
- History about the inventor.
- Date of birth – Date of death (if deceased)
- Biographical information (where were they born, occupations, interesting facts about their life, etc.)
- What was the invention called?
- When was it invented? Did it receive a patent? If, so when?
- Provide a drawing/sketch/picture of the inventor & invention.
- List inventions they are noted for.
- Students will give an oral presentation about their inventor.

PowerPoint Presentation:
You will make a PowerPoint presentation with your group members using the information that you all have gathered. You will give a brief account of the person and what he/she contributed. Your team will also give a report on the inventor's country and culture. Please provide evidence of you team's findings. The presentation must be creative and informational. Include pictures and artifacts to your team's slide show.
